Posh’s moral-boosting wins helps move the club away from the relegation zone. Marco Gabbiadini has an early effort from 25 yards, before Paul McGregor is denied by Ian Hendon. Andy Clarke’s tame shot, having beaten the offside trap, is easily blocked by Richard Hope. Derek Asamoah then misses an open goal, having taken the ball past Gareth Jelleyman and Lee Harrison. In the second half a mix-up between Nathan Abbey and Paul Reid leaves Clarke with a chance to show Asamoah how it’s done. The home side have chances to equalise: firstly Harrison blocks Darryn Stamp’s toe-poke with his legs, then Paul Harsley sends a free kick over the bar after Tony Shields had up-ended Gabbiadini. Jimmy Bullard misses a chance to double the lead, heading the rebound from Clarke’s shot over the bar. Stamp has his second yellow card following a late tackle on Simon Rea; the home side continue to create chances, but McGregor and Harsley are unable to find the net.
