Posh return to their old ways and appear to kiss goodbye to the play-offs, losing 2-1 at Paul Ince's resurgent Macclesfield Town. Darren Ferguson keeps with the same team that beat Wrexham, but Martin Bullock grabs the opening goal just before half-time. Aaron McLean scores the equaliser, but Alan Navarro's spectacular volley 3 minutes later is a worthy winner. Ferguson throws on 3 substitutes, but Posh only look like grabbing a point in injury-time: Craig Mackail-Smith blazes over from 12 yards and Danny Crow sees a header from a corner turned away by Tommy Lee. Ince has sympathy for his former team-mate: “Darren's a great friend, I had a word with him and told him not to beat himself up. I've only been in management three months myself — sometimes you want to open the champagne, and sometimes you want to kick the dog.”
