After a disappointing pre-season, Posh begin their league campaign with a convincing win over Rochdale. Josh Low grabs an early goal, while at the other end Shane Blackett and Craig Morgan prevent Shwan Jalal, played in favour of Mark Tyler, from being tested. Just before half-time Aaron McLean celebrates his return from injury by doubling the lead. On the hour mark débutant Chris Whelpdale hits the post with a volley and Josh Low smacks the rebound against the bar.
Darren Ferguson's men are unable to find the net again until the final minute, when late substitute Danny Crow scores only his second goal since December 2006.
Dale boss Keith Hill says that his side got off lightly, "Peterborough showed exactly why I and most other tipsters believe they will finish in the top two."
