Following defeat at Rotherham Utd, Darren Ferguson hands Chris Westwood, Charlie Lee and Rene Howe their first starts for Posh. Chesterfield start brightly, but Adam Newton picks out Aaron McLean for the first goal of the game. The Spireites have two goals disallowed, before Jack Lester has his penalty saved. He makes amends within a minute, however, finding the net as soon as the ball returns to Shwan Jalal's box. McLean has an effort cleared off the line, while Craig Morgan is forced off through injury. Deep into injury time Charlie Lee restores Posh's lead, scoring a header via the underside of the crossbar. In the second half Chesterfield grab two goals in quick succession and Ferguson's men are unable to find an equaliser, despite efforts from Westwood and George Boyd. Chesterfield substitute Wayne Allison is forced off with a head injury late in the game.
