Competition Football Combination (central and east division).

Richard Scott and Ryan Semple have early shots saved by Cédric Berthelin before Crystal Palace take the lead, as Ade Akinbiyi toe-pokes the ball past the diving Dan Connor. Soon after Connor’s poor goal kick gifts Dougie Freedman the chance to double the lead, but he fails to get enough power on his attempted lob. At the other end a dangerous cross from Rory Hutton eludes everyone, then Helgi Daníelsson has a low drive deflected for a corner. David Farrell has a weaving run blocked in the second half, then substitute Michael Frew goes close. Chances are limited, however, as Crystal Palace settle for the 1-0 win. After the game Phil Chapple says “We defended very well in the second half and the lads showed a good attitude. It was extremely difficult to pass the ball due to the conditions, but the players never gave up and kept trying.”
