The Posh first team end their pre-season with a win at Underhill. New signing Steve Kabba starts well for Barnet, picking out Glen Southam who forces a near-post save from Joe Lewis. Grant McCann goes close with a free kick, but as Posh push men forward the hosts take advantage. Jordan Parkes bursts into the area and Lewis only manages to parry his low cross into the path of Glenn Poole, who makes no mistake from 10 yards. The visitors nearly grab an equaliser, as first Arron Davies’s shot is blocked by Rossi Jarvis, then Aaron Mclean is denied at point-blank range by Jake Cole. Nevertheless the score is soon levelled: Charlie Lee is upended by Parkes and Grant McCann slots home. Minutes later Lewis trips Mark Marshall, but saves Poole’s penalty low to his right. In the second half Craig Mackail-Smith and Daniel Leach both go close, but it takes a change of personnel to provide some extra spark. McCann goes close with two efforts, but Mackail-Smith takes the lead, slotting the ball through Cole’s legs from Nathaniel Mendez-Laing’s cross. George Boyd extends the lead with the last kick of the game, having found room on the edge of the area.
