Posh knock an injury-stricken Rotherham Utd side out the League Cup after a disappointing start. George Boyd, Aaron Mclean, Ryan Bennett and James Wesolowski all have early chances, but Marcus Marshall opens the scoring for the visitors following Nathaniel Mendez-Laing's failed clearance. Craig Mackail-Smith is sent clean through by McLean on 33 minutes, but his weak effort hits Andy Warrington's legs. A minute later, however, Boyd's corner finds Bennett, who levels the match. A short corner then sees Boyd play a one-two with Wesolowski and drill the ball past Warrington. In the second half Mendez-Laing comes close, but it's McLean, who, left with a tap-in following Mark Little's cross, extends the lead. McLean, having clattered into Danny Harrison, is taken off on a stretcher 10 minutes later. Adam Le Fondre and Nicky Law go close for the visitors, then David Hibbert is denied by Warrington. Mackail-Smith makes no mistake, however, turning Lee Tomlin's low cross in at the back post.
