Posh begin their pre-season with a defeat at Crawley, still reeling from the sudden departure of new manager Sean O'Driscoll to Nottingham Forest. The home side make a bright start: Billy Clarke and Mat Sadler go close, before Gary Alexander capitalises on Mark Little's poor back pass. Tommy Rowe has one of only a few Posh chances. Despite all the outfield players being changed at halftime, Posh still struggle. Crawley's Morgan Ferrier has the best chance of the half, only to blaze over from 3 yards following Sergio Torres's low cross. Darren Ferguson says after the he expected the result: "It was a really good game against a team miles ahead of us in terms of fitness. Crawley were having their forth game of the summer and they are a good side as well."
