AFC Rushden & Diamonds finally play their first ever home game after 2 rained-off attempts, and easily beat a young Posh side. Troy Johnston almost immediately gives the home side the lead, only to be denied by Joe Day. Tim Cary and Scott Griffiths come close, then Peter Okechukwu is forced off with injury. Jack Wisniewski sets up Alfie Taylor for the opener, who grabs his second minutes later following a powerful run. Decent Ellwood closes the half by hitting the post. Half-time changes reinvigorate Posh, but they are unable to find a way through Quincy Shorunmu. Rushden eventually grab another when Louis Smith's free kick isn't cleared, and Chris Hope is able to stab the ball home. Another Smith free kick sees the scoring complete: this time the ball falls to Elliot Dent on the edge of the area, and his low shot deceives substitute keeper Alex Lynch. Posh almost grab a consolation in the dying moments, only for Joe Burgess's effort to strike the outside of the post.
