Aston Villa are comfortable winners at London Road, as Posh give David Farrell a run-out against his childhood team. Nathaniel Knight-Percival is tried out at left-back, with Tommy Rowe out injured. Paul Taylor fires the first effort of the game wide, the Daniel Johnson's shot is deflected over the bar. Taylor forces a fine save from Shay Given, and the visitors open the scoring when Andreas Weimann's low cross is turned in by Johnson. In the second half, Joe Day denies Charles N'Zogbia, and Fabien Delph fires wide. Daniel Kearns is forced off with a foot injury after a bad challenge. The introduction of Farrell fails to inspire the home side, and the lead is doubled when Brett Holman sweeps home a patient build-up. Day then immediately denies Holman a brace.
