Posh travel to Ireland for the first time since Darragh MacAnthony took over the club. Joe Newell has the Posh’s first effort of the season, but his effort his saved by Neil Burdon at his near post. Lee Tomlin goes close following a clever pass by Jaanai Gordon; soon after he curls home a 25-yard free kick to take a deserved lead.
After a mass change at half-time, Emile Sinclair immediately has an effort cleared on the line. The hosts begin to get into the game, and Adam Hanlon goes close having beaten the offside trap. Alex Prizeman is denied by Bobby Olejnik, who then makes a double save to deny Seán Brennan and Adam O’Connor. The hosts grab a deserved equaliser, albeit in controversial circumstances: Michael Bostwick fouls Brennan outside of the area, only for a penalty to be given. Glenn Cronin then sends Olejnik the wrong way. Nathaniel Knight-Percival nearly steals a win with a late header, only to just send the ball wide of the post.
